This page will tell you a little bit about ourselves as it relates to our Dogs...
We show and selectively breed Great Danes. We strive to produce the best temperament, health and longevity we can so that Danes from our breeding program are safe, pleasurable to live with and on this planet for a long time. We work to achieve conformation that is as close to the breed standard as we can accomplish with our Noble Breed. We co-own our puppies and we control all breeding (meaning that any breeding must be approved by us with our co-owned dogs). This helps to ensure that any progeny from our breeding program will be safe throughout their lives, that our intellectual property and hard work for years will be honored, that anyone breeding dogs we produced has shared values and that our breeding program will be protected. We have been awarded the following:
AKC Breeder of Merit, AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T.
Great Dane Club of America Breeder of the Year 2015 & 2016 & 2017
GDCC Breeder of the Year 2012 & 2013 & 2014 & 2015 & 2016 & 2017
We are determined to make every attempt to improve the breed. We do NOT breed our Ch. Danes if they lack important qualities or have deal breaker health issues.
Our Danes are Ambassadors for the breed and well known in our community, schools, reading programs and therapy assistance. We also train service dogs occasionally.
Cynthia is an AKC Licensed Evaluator for AKC Puppy S.T.A.R.
all levels of Trick Dog and all levels of Canine Good Citizen
We obedience train & Cynthia is a member of the APDT.
Many of the dogs we breed, earn their Canine Good Citizen's Certificates
We also rescue, foster and find adoptive homes. We rehabilitate & socialize our rescues before adoption so that they are safe. This is entirely not-for-profit.
We have saved/rescued and placed over 500 Great Danes in adoptive homes.
We enjoy attending educational programs on health, anatomy and breeding.
We are members of the GDCC and the GDCA
We mentor those that are new to the show dog world as well as those that are new to the rescue/foster/adoption world. We welcome new people to the breed and want them to have great experiences with the various activities they participate.
Our puppies are not commodities nor dispensable, to be thrown away when you fail to meet your goals. There are many breeders out there that do not care what you do with their puppies, so, please seek them out if you want breeders that do not care.
We work for a living (not dog related) and have properties to support our dogs.
We will ALWAYS accept any and ALL dogs back that we have placed if it does not work out for any reason. This includes our own Danes as well as Rescues. When we accept responsibility for one of these sweet souls, we accept it forever.
We Walk the Walk
Sometimes, we have young adults available (after they have come back to us) and we work on re-homing them. Usually, if they come back to us, it is due to our co-owners having an emergency in their lives, or, improper raising of the puppis or they have a "life-style change" or they were just not committed to their dogs. Unfortunately, even though we do our best to screen our puppy homes, people are not always honest during the interview process or they are not truly prepared for a giant breed working dog like a Great Dane. These dogs get BIG and can be a handful.
Puppies/Dogs bred by us are always welcome back no matter what.
We OFA health test (cardiac, thyroid, eyes, Hips)
We live in beautiful Sunny Southern California.
Our puppies are co-owned and living with their own families.
Breeding better dogs
Showing, Performance & Training are some of our activities.
Rescue, Adoption & Educating the Community are also some of our activities.
We warn potiential Great Dane co-owners that this can be a very expensive breed and encourage them to only take on what they can afford. This includes proper feeding, medical care and various emergencies that can spring up when least expected.
People sometimes ask us to refer them to litters with available puppies for sale; especially when they decide that they would prefer to purchase a puppy outright, rather than invest in a co-owned puppy from us (we do not sell our puppies and co-own every puppy we produce, with contracts and expectations of our new investors/co-owners). When a potential puppy owner does not want to co-own or agree to our puppy contracts (with all of the expectations and requirements that we include) or, if we are asked for referrals to other breeders:
We ONLY refer potential puppy buyers to breeders that health test and who we believe to have Quality Great Danes for sale. We do not refer to breeders that are breeding dogs to make a living. If they are not attempting to better the breed, temperament, health and longevity, then we do not refer to them.
We encourage any potential puppy owner to visit www.ofa.org website to check all of the OFA health tests on the parents of a litter PRIOR to getting a puppy. Please do not even go to see the puppy without checking out the health FIRST.
It is true that we have high standards.
We care about your future experiences and potential heartbreaks.
We love this breed.
